Easy Brie and Pear Snack for the Brain Dead

Today, "Brain Dead Thursday" gives you advance notice to buy the ingredients for Friday when you truly will feel brain dead after a long work week!

This super simple snack can be prepared in less than 10 minutes if you move like a snail.

Oh, and dig out your waffle iron.  Yes, you read that right!  It doesn't get easier than this - throwing this delish snack into your waffle iron for a quick cook and a cool looking finish!

Make sure you've got some white wine chilling!  Once it's all ready, kick back, sip your wine, bite into your creation and enjoy the sweet weekend ahead!

Here's what you'll need for 2 people:

2 small sized pitas (about 6' diameter)
                             Brie cheese
                             1 pear
                             Agave syrup
                             Butter (not shown)

Heat your waffle iron while you prepare your ingredients.
Cut around the pitas with a knife.
Lay the pieces cut side up.
Cut the pear in half, core.
Lay flat side down, cut into 1/4 inch slices.
Cut brie into 1/2 inch slices.
Arrange the pear slices on two of the pita halves.
Arrange brie on top.
Drizzle with agave syrup.
If you'd like, sprinkle with a little brown sugar instead.
Or, as another alternative, before you put pear on the pita,
you could spread on some apricot or peach jam.
Top with the remaining pita halves.
Spread butter on top.
Carefully place filled pita on hot waffle iron,
buttered side down.
Butter the remaining top.
Close waffle iron.
Cook for aboout 90 seconds to 2 minutes.
Check to see if it's golden like this.
Using a pizza cutter or serrated knife,
cut along the demarcations made by the waffle iron.
Four yummy pieces of a great and simple appetizer or snack.
Creamy brie, agave sweetened pear in a buttery crust...
That goes perfectly with a nice fruity chardonnay!

Bon appetit!
